Installing the Android APK

Step-by-step instructions for sideloading Keryx Maps on GrapheneOS, LineageOS, and other custom ROMs, plus how to verify the download hasn't been tampered with. Direct APK installation is for privacy-focused users who prefer not to use Google Play (166 MB 64-bit / 145 MB legacy 32-bit).

APK Verification

Verify the authenticity of the APK before installation to ensure it hasn't been tampered with.

How to verify:

Download the APK file
Calculate SHA-256: sha256sum KeryxMaps-v1.2.1.apk
Compare with the checksum above - they must match exactly

GrapheneOS

Enable app installation from Files app:
- Open Settings → Apps
- Find Files app
- Enable "Install unknown apps"
Download the APK:
Open this page in Vanadium (GrapheneOS browser) and tap "Download APK" on the download page
Verify the APK (optional but recommended):
Use a checksum app or terminal to verify SHA-256 matches
Install the APK:
- Open Files app
- Navigate to Downloads
- Tap KeryxMaps-v1.2.1.apk
- Tap Install
Launch Keryx Maps from your app drawer

After installation:

You can disable "Install unknown apps" for the Files app in Settings → Apps → Files for added security.

LineageOS (& Other Custom ROMs)

Enable "Unknown sources":
- Open Settings → Security
- Enable "Unknown sources" or "Install unknown apps"
- If prompted, allow your browser to install apps
Download the APK using your browser
Verify SHA-256 checksum (optional but recommended)
Open Downloads and tap the APK file
Tap "Install" and wait for installation to complete
Launch Keryx Maps from app drawer
