Plan a route offline

Download routing data and plan routes on your device, with no signal.

For the Keryx Maps apps on Android, iPhone and desktop. Do the download once, while you are online. Map and routing downloads need an active plan or a live trial.

  1. 1

    Download routing data

    Android

There is no separate routing download. Routing data comes with every United States map you download.

    1. Connect to Wi-Fi.
    2. Open the menu and tap Map Management. This opens Offline Maps.
    3. Pick your home region and tap Download Map. The size line on the region shows a Route: amount in MB. That is the routing data.
    4. Wait until the region shows Installed. The map can show Installed even if the routing part failed to download.

If routing data is missing, the app tries again the next time you open the map while you are online. If a route still fails, check your connection and open the map again.

    iPhone

There is no separate routing download. Routing data comes with every United States map you download.

    1. Connect to Wi-Fi.
    2. Open the menu and tap Map Management. This opens Offline Maps.
    3. Pick your home region and tap Download Map. The size line on the region shows a Route: amount in MB. That is the routing data.
    4. Wait until the region shows Installed. The map can show Installed even if the routing part failed to download.

If routing data is missing, the app tries again the next time you open the map while you are online. If a route still fails, check your connection and open the map again.

    Desktop

There is no separate routing download. Routing data comes with every United States map you download.

    1. Use a good connection.
    2. Open Maps from the navigation. This opens Offline Maps.
    3. Pick your home region and click Download Map. The size line on the region shows a Route: amount in MB. That is the routing data.
    4. Wait until the region shows Installed. The map can show Installed even if the routing part failed to download.

The desktop app does not retry by itself. If routes fail later, delete the map from the Installed tab and download it again while you are online. The download fetches routing data that is missing.

    Avoid hazards and reroute

    Android

The router does not pick hazard-free roads for you. It follows the road data on your device. You tell it about closures, and it can show nearby fire data.

    • Mark a blocked road. Add a pin, choose the Hazard category (⚠️ Hazard/Warning in the quick pin menu), and tick Road impassable — route around it. Every route you plan avoids that spot until you delete the pin or it expires.
    • Reroute while driving. While a route is running, the map's button stack shows an orange icon of two circular arrows. On hover, or to a screen reader, it reads Road blocked ahead — reroute. It blocks the road just ahead and finds another way to the same place. It is hidden when you are not navigating.
    • Allow rough roads. Another button in the same stack is a grey warning-triangle icon, shown only while navigating. On hover or to a screen reader it reads Emergency reroute. It also allows fire roads and other rough roads, and drops your vehicle size limits, so check what the road is really like. The triangle turns red while it is on. Tap it again to go back to normal roads.
    • Fire notice. If a route passes near fire data the app already has, a notice such as Active fire near your route appears. It is information only. The app does not steer you around the fire. With no signal, it only knows the fire data it last downloaded.
